Other Games | Renton player to return after neck injury
Football |
Antwone Hackett is expected to return to the field next week when Renton opens the playoffs.
Hackett was carried off the field with a neck injury during the third quarter of Thursday’s Seamount League game with Kennedy and taken to a hospital by ambulance. He was released Thursday night, according to Renton coach Terry Metcalf, who accompanied Hackett to the hospital as his guardian. Hackett, a senior receiver and defensive back, wore a neck brace at school Friday but later removed it, Metcalf said.
“He’s fine,” Metcalf said. “It’s more of a muscle thing than anything else.”
Renton lost 35-29, but advances to the playoffs as the league’s No. 2 seed.
